Click Through If You Dare

You should click through just to read the headline and see the picture of the smug a-hole who thinks poor people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Reading Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine has been a revelation, but I've always recognized that there is a fundamental disconnect between democracy (All men are created equal) and market/laissez faire capitalism (The world needs ditch diggers, too).

What's amazing is how blatant and out in the open the attacks on democracy have been.

A century ago, the fundamental theme of most Progressives was "more democracy".  Which is why we have direct elections of Senators, recalls, initiative and referenda, women suffrage and primary elections.

We could use some of that now, methinks.
