The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

You Have GOT To Be Kidding Me

Last night's GOP "debate" was hosted by the John Birch Society.  The "winner" was Herman Cain.  The "reasonable one" was Ron Paul.  The "loser" was Tim Pawlenty for showing up to a GOP debate sponsored by the John Birch Society held in South Carolina.

Who will the GOP fixate upon as a "white knight"?  Mitch Daniels?  Mike Huckabee?  Will they really nominate Mittens Romney, Mormon and universal health care provider?

Yes, Obama is enjoying his bin Laden bounce, but unless oil prices really are going to stay around $100/bl or lower, the economy will still be an issue in 2012.

But there isn't a single person in the GOP field that an independent voter will look at say, "The person is a President."

Um... Yeah.
