The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Uh, Yeah. The Stimulus Worked

http://bonddad.blogspot.com/2012/08/some-points-just-arent-debatable.html

The Scoptic ad has everyone's pants in a twist, because it depicts Romney as "the leading cause of wife-cancer" - in Jon Stewart's memorable phrase.

And yet, Romney's campaign has exhibited just as much (in fact much more) dissembling and lying than the Obama campaign.

"You didn't build that" is their current soundbite (I head Gov. McConnell R-Vagina-Monitoring use it during his speech this morning) was ridiculously taken out of context.  This spring, the Romney campaign deliberately inverted an Obama quote in one of their ads.  They have recently made up a whopper of a lie about Obama overturning welfare reform.

So if Priorities USA is lying about Romney and wife-cancer then Romney is lying about, well, everything else.

One of the biggest attacks is that the stimulus failed and everyone knows that it failed.

In fact, the stimulus worked.  This is incontrovertible from the evidence.  The assumptions about the Great Recession were wrong.  It was much worse than anyone thought.  But the stimulus ameliorated and shortened the recession.  It has been austerity that have forced countries back into double dip recessions.

The link above shows quite clearly two things.  First, the stimulus worked.  Second, the Romney campaign is lying about it.
