The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Vote For Romney Or The Economy Gets It

http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/romney-stump-speech-november-14363197

Wow.  Well, it's an honest argument at least.  If Obama is re-elected, the GOP will have another freakout over the New Black Panther Party and ACORN and God knows what else.  Jon Cohn points out that Obama will likely win the electoral college at some point Tuesday night but won't win the popular vote for days because of mail-in voting out west.

And so... freakout.  And debt ceiling hostage crisis.  And default.

In the last debate, Obama said quiet forcefully that another debt ceiling fiasco won't happen again. I have no idea what he's basing this on, but it's difficult to see a scenario where the GOP doesn't try to intentionally sabotage the economy again.

So Romney's argument is vote for me, because the House GOP is batshit insane.

Of course, another argument would be to vote in a Democratic House...
