Blog Credo

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

My Obsession

I've become fixated on the CL&P power map.  This morning, 51% of our town was without power.  It is now 66%.

I suppose it could have been an earlier reporting error or it could be on-line homes being taken off-line in order to make repairs.

We are very lucky.  I should stipulate that up front.  The school never lost power, so we always had a warm place and a warm meal.  We have friends and colleagues who have taken us and ours into their homes.

But if I don't have power by Saturday, I'm going to cut someone.
