The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Well, This Is Somewhat Sickening

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-pennstate-abuse

Joe Paterno got fired.  He got fired because he was not responsible - as he should be under the law - for reporting the sexual abuse of a minor to the proper authorities.

Joe Paterno is not Jerry Sandusky.  He is not a predator.  But he also failed at the most important job a coach or teacher has: moral leadership and protecting kids.

What is sickening is that the Penn State knuckleheads had themselves a mini-riot over the firing of someone who was far too tolerant of a serial molester and rapist.

Priorities.
